Scenic coast lines,
lakes, forests and islands are some of the
attractions for visitors to Sweden. Others
include the Midnight Sun and Northern Lights.
Outdoor sports such as skiing and hiking
are popular activities. The countries towns
have a traditional charm and cities such
as Gothenburg and Stockholm have rich cultures
and a lively nightlife. Festivals include
the Pagan Walpurgis Night held on the 30th
of April, to celebrates the end of Winter,
and Midsummer, which is celebrated each
year with Pagan rituals such as maypole
dancing.
Geography: Sweden is located between
Finland and Norway. It borders the Baltic
Sea and ranges from flat lowlands to mountains
and forests, stretching towards the Arctic
circle.
Weather: Cool summers
and cold winters in the south. Sub-arctic
in the north.
Getting There: Sweden can be entered by road or rail from Norway
and Finland. There are regular flights to Stockholm
and Gothenburg from airports across Europe. A
number of ferry lines have services to Swedish
ports and ferries carry trains from Denmark.
