As well as dramatic
scenery, Romania offers tourists skiing,
hiking and the Black Sea Coast resorts.
The country is famous for Transylvania,
its mountains, castles and medieval towns.
Many festivals are held in the country,
from small local events to a Chamber Music
festival held in Brasov in July and a two
week long medieval arts and crafts fair
held in August in Sighisoara.
Geography: Romania is located between
Bulgaria and the Ukraine and borders the
Black Sea. Running through the country are
the Transylvanian Alps and the Carpathian
Mountains.
Getting There: Visitors can enter Romania by road or rail from
neighbouring countries. There are flights available
from many airports across Europe. Boats carry
passengers along the Danube to Romania from countries
such as Austria and Hungary.
