Famous as the birth
place of Alexander The Great, Macedonia
has historic monasteries and churches. Popular
festivals include the Ohrid Summer Festival
held each July, the Balkan Festival of Folk
Dances and Songs in Ohrid also in July and
a festival of poetry held each August in
Struga. Other celebrations include Republic
Day on the 8th of September, Orthodox Christmas
on the 7th of January and the Old New Year
on the 13th of January.

parts of Europe to the main airport in Skopje
and another in Ohrid.
