Created in 1719, the
principality of Liechtenstein became an
independent country in 1866. The country
attracts most of its visitors during the
warm Summer months, when they can enjoy
a range of outdoor activities. The Alpine
Winter sports season runs from November
to March. Outside of the high season, hotels
are often not so busy and cheaper offers
available. There are processions and fireworks
displays to celebrate Liechtenstein's national
holiday on the 15th of August.
