Beautiful countryside,
horse racing, golf courses and fishing attract
visitors to Ireland. Historic sites include
Newgrange, dating back over five thousand
years. Dublin is known for its pub life,
music and literary tradition. The capital
hosts events such as a Theatre Festival
in October and the International Film Festival
in February. Other attractions include the
ancient Puck Fair at Killorglin in County
Kerry, the Dublin Horse Show, in August
and the gourmet festival in Kinsale, County
Cork. St Patrick's Day is on the 17th of
March and is celebrated with parades and
parties.
Getting There: Ferries sail across the Irish Sea between the
Republic of Ireland and ports in Britain. There
are regular flights to Dublin, Cork and Shannon
airports from major European cities.
