Famous for the quality
of its food and wine, France has many regions
associated with their production. Paris
is regarded around the world as a city of
romance and culture. Tourists are attracted
to the countries galleries and museums.
Spring and Summer are very popular, whilst
Winter sports attract visitors to the French
Alps and Pyrenees. Most Parisians, like
other French city dwellers, take their holidays
in late July and August, leaving cities
half empty. Towns and cities hold festivals
of music, theatre, art and cinema and famous
events include the February fashion show,
the Strasbourg music festival in June and
the Cannes Film Festival each May.
Getting There: Tourists can enter France by road or rail from
surrounding countries. The main airport is Charles
de Gaulle, near Paris and there are regular ferry
services to and from English ports.
