Many of the towns in
the landlocked Czech Republic feature Gothic,
Renaissance and Baroque buildings. The Bohemian
plateau is drained by the rivers Vltava
and Labe which are dotted with picturesque
castles and villages. Prague is famed for
its historic architecture and nightlife
and is popular with students and as a location
for holding stag and hen parties. The best
months to visit the country are May, June
and September. July and August are very
busy and though colder, April and October
can offer cheaper holidays. Outside of the
capital, most museums and castles are closed
between October and April. An International
Music Festival is held in Prague each May
and June, the Mozart Festival in September
and a Book Fair in May.
