A popular holiday
destination throughout the year, Austria
has many attractions for tourists. They
include the beautiful lakes and mountains,
Winter sports resorts such as Innsbruck
and the architecture and history of musical
cities such as Salzburg and Vienna. The
country holds many music festivals including
January concerts and balls in Vienna, Spring
carnivals and processions. The Vienna International
Arts Festival runs from mid-May to mid-June
and the Salzburg International Music Festival
between late July and August. National Day
is on the 26th of October.
Geography: Austria has Alpine mountains
in the south and west and gentle slopes
in the east and north. Located in central
Europe, it is north of Italy and Slovenia.
Getting There: Visitors can enter Austria by road from Germany,
Czechia, Slovenia and Hungary. A fast and reliable
train service is also available. Flights to the
main international airport in Vienna are available
from all of the worlds main cities.
